Important Information About the Exhaust Valve (SP Model Only)
- On the SP model, the stock exhaust valve needs to be bypassed.
- To install it properly on the SP model, we recommend removing both cables—one from the exhaust valve and the other from the servo actuator (a small electric motor that controls the valve).
How Our Slip-On Mimics the Valve’s Function:
- The Ixrace link pipes uses two internal pipes to replicate the valve’s effect:
- At low RPMs, exhaust gases pass through the larger pipe to maintain performance.
- At higher RPMs, gases flow through both the larger and smaller pipes, ensuring optimal flow.
Additional Technical Notes:
- The standard CB1000 Hornet does not have an exhaust valve, so no adjustments are needed when fitting the slip-on.
Why Remove Both Cables on the SP Model?
While it’s not strictly necessary to remove both cables, leaving them in place could cause issues. If a cable gets stuck or cannot move freely, it may overheat and damage the servo motor. To prevent this, we strongly advise removing both cables during installation on the SP model.
For a better understanding of how the valve works, watch this YouTube video. It shows a Yamaha R1’s EXUP valve, which operates similarly to the Honda system.
